Choose Social Media Trends That Fit Your Brand

A popular format can offer a fresh way to present a familiar subject. It can also pull a brand away from the message it needs to communicate. Before joining a trend, ask whether the format helps a relevant audience understand something useful about the business.
Separate the format from the idea
Identify what makes the trend interesting. It may be a simple visual sequence, a question or a way of comparing two options. You can adapt that structure without copying another brand’s wording or personality.
For example, a quick preparation sequence might suit a restaurant. A product comparison might suit a retailer. The same approach may feel forced for a professional service that needs more explanation. Choose the fit deliberately.
Check what production will require
Consider the people, footage and approval time needed. A short video is not necessarily quick to make, especially if it depends on several locations or a busy team.
Keep enough room in the calendar for content that remains useful after the trend passes. Service introductions, practical answers and project details can support visitors who arrive weeks later. A feed built entirely around temporary references may tell a new visitor very little about the business.
Review the result against its purpose
Decide what you wanted the post to communicate before judging the response. A high view count does not automatically mean the message reached likely customers or explained the offer clearly.
Note which elements worked and which felt unnatural. Keep the useful parts as a format the team can adapt again. The goal is to develop a recognisable way of communicating, with enough flexibility to stay interesting and enough consistency to still sound like your business.
